Shared Goals

Before leaving to South Korea and after briefly learning about their education system, I thought that majority (if not, all) of South Koreans were some of the smartest people on earth. I also thought that everyone in South Korea is education oriented because it’s so competitive that everyone wants to be at the top. If someone was not focused in school then something must be wrong with them. After 3 long weeks in south Korea, I think my main take away regarding the people is that not everyone share the same goal of striving in school. I learned from the SNUE students and many professors that they don’t want to pressure their kids and some even stated that they want their kids to study abroad at a young age because of the competition. I think hearing honest stories and the truth behind South Korea’s education system stood out to me the most. I came home with a better understanding of the people, their history, and why their schools are they way that they are.

Final reflection

I don't even know where to begin as a final reflection. This trip made me realize just how much I would like to live and work in Korea....
