One interesting story from this week has been the interaction with the SNUE students. Getting to meet and getting to know some fellow female university students it was interesting the cultural differences we have. One major cultural difference is when I spoke to the students we talked about what kind of education they want for their future kids. One student told me simply that she is not interested in having kids because she doesn’t want her kids to suffer through the Korean education system the way she has suffered. I can not imagine that being said by a female student in America. I also thought it was interesting because as we’ve learned the first week in Korea, the birth rate is declining. Her comment made me wonder if that is a common sentiment amongst the young generation in Korea.
