As I reflect on each lectures, activities, and people we have met this week, I think I would have to describe South Korea asPrideful and Proud. It first started with the principle of SNUE who proudly spoke about the Korean culture such as KPOP, Korean food, and Korean Education. Then I heard many of the professors speak about the histories of their Korean topics: language, education, taekwondo, and traditional dance. They speak of the past to inform us Americans of how far they have come, and I must applaud them for their desire to be on top, but I also feel sadden that their progress often goes unnoticed. Aside from what goes on inside SNUE, I think that many Koreans come off as intimidating. The way they rush through the subways and even their polished attire can come off as a proud individual who seems to be too good to help us lost foreigners. Although it is different from Minnesota, I am starting to acknowledge that this is their way of living which is normal to Koreans.
