NK: The people are not the government

After the first few days in Seoul, my first impression is that it's a very busy city. I was also impressed with how clean the city is considering how densely populated it is. My first impression of SNUE is that it is a nice school. Me and some of the other girls already got to enjoy the pool J. Every one here has been so nice. The teachers are passionate and seem to enjoy teaching about their topics. Our student supporters, Nayeon and Juyeon, have gone above and beyond to help us and make us feel welcome at SNUE. They even came with us to sing karaoke last night! The most interesting lesson for me this week actually happened today. Going to the multicultural school and getting to meet a north Korean refugee was fascinating to me. In America everyone hears about some of the horrible things that happen in north Korea, and about what the refugees have to go through. But to actually be able to meet someone who recently escaped and to get to have a conversation with that person brought it to a whole new level.
