Our time in South Korea has been an unforgettable experience. The kindness of the people who helped us throughout this trip is what stood out to us, especially the times they guided us through our adventures (even if they were complete strangers). We've noticed that the culture is based on respect for elders; for example, the youngest in any group would be the last to eat or receive a drink. There are also many different forms of formalities when speaking to someone who is may be older or is a higher status than you. When it comes to education, it is impossible to ignore the importance the people of South Korea place on it. The growth of their economy is mostly attributed to their educational system so it is no wonder that their national testing day requires people to attend work an hour later and even for the airports to delay flights. Overall, South Korea has provided us with countless culture shocks but also a better understanding of the pros and cons of both South Korea's education and our own.
