An interaction we had during our stay in Seoul, was when we were in the subway. There were many times where elders would ask us where we were from. It was interesting to experience others immediately notice that we are foreigners. Today we went to Itaewon. As we were on the subway, a ahjjushii, asked us where we were from. We told him we were from the U.S. He then asked where we were headed. We then told him the stop we were going to. Our conversation ended there. As our stop approached closer, the ahjjushii was sitting a few seats away from where we were standing, and yelled out to us that our stop was next. It was very nice of him to help let us know where our stop was, even though we did not asked of him. Even with some language barriers, the ahjjushi willingly on his own wanted to help us. This was one of the few nice interactions that we had during a subway ride. With this we learned that many people are not only interested in knowing where foreigners come from, they are also willing to help you if you need help.
