Compliments and recognitions of South Korea’s academic achievements appear everywhere in the readings. Of course, we as the audience are impressed and some, envious? However, after having attended a week’s worth of lecture, I became more curious about the educational system in Korea. It is such an extremely competitive country that is obsessed with education due to the limited number of job openings and so forth. Yes, the academic scores in Korea is extremely great; however, the students are struggling mentally, emotionally, and physically. Overall, the lectures can sometimes be very difficult to listen to because of this issue. I truly hope that the educational system in Korea will one day, allow students to rest much longer.
