Mini fans, Coffee shops, and cats!

Hot. That is the first word that comes to mind when I think about South Korea. What surprises me the most about this is that it's not only scorching hot every single day we've been here but the people who live here don't seem it sweat or notice the heat. I've seen people walk around with mini fans and thought it was funny at first but rushed to buy one in order to save myself from the weather. Best $5 spent ever. I've had quite a few culture shocks since we've gotten here around 5 days ago and some I can think of off the top of my head are:
People are very quiet especially on subways and do not like when you are too loud
They are also very kind and have walked us to wherever we need to be when we are lost even if it is out of their way
Many restaurants are hidden in alleys that take a real native to actually find
Prices at different stores can vary even though they are part of the same chain
Food here can be very cheap! I've bought a meal for only $5!
Students study from morning till night
There are seemingly limitless coffee shops and some of them are themed! I went to one where you're allowed to play with cats while you enjoy your coffee!
Those are a few of my first impressions and I can't wait to see what other surprises may be in store as we explore more of Seoul and South Korea!
