As the youngest daughter and the first to go study abroad, my parents were afraid. I felt so much warmth and protection from their endless questions and concern. A few months ago, I was feeling excited only. Now as I pack up for the trip and as I walk out the door, bittersweet emotions are filling me up all over. Before I stepped out of the house, I took a look at each of my family members and ran to go hug them, “I will be home soon,” I said. Now that I have left, I feel extremely excited to explore the Korean culture. I have absolutely no idea what to expect. All I want is to create memories there.
