Korean Eating Culture

One thing I wanted to do in South Korea was to eat many different Korean foods. It was easy to see that S. Korea also enjoyed eating out, as there were so many restaurants. There were restaurants that offered Indian to American to Italian food. It is funny how I had my first Doukin’ Donuts and margarita pizza in S. Korea. I’ve noticed that eating out in South Korea was definitely a group activity because I rarely saw people eating alone. Also, many restaurants are self service which means you get your own utensils, pour your own drinks, and etc. Then there is an unspoken norm that other people or yourself (depending on your age) should pour drinks. The best part is that we didn’t have to tip for dinner or delivery food. What I enjoyed the most was the free Korean side dishes that you get with your order! I think that the eating culture in South Korea is quite different from the U.S. and I really enjoyed the Korean eating culture.
